I decided to play a prank on Carlos, as soon as I found out that unfortunately there was no Tsing Tao beer in the establishment. I decided to order a Chinese liquor very heavy on alcohool, as I had already known it for three years. This alcoholic drink has more alcohol content than alcohol iself apparently. The drink came in two ceramic containers [PHOTO], and after we toasted, Carlos drained the entire content of the glass at once while I barely wet my lips, wanting to laugh. When Carlos put the glass on the table, he was already a different person [laughs]. And on impulse, he approached me, took a firm hold on one of my shoulders and said with a big smile and in a louder volume than he remembers - “Si Hing! I really like you, man!” - I started to laugh and Carlos continued - “I already came here with other friends, but I said it! I really like you, man! This is very 'Blade Runner! It's just like you!'”- Carlos said other even funnier things, but that's for another article... laughs.
- Ponderei.
When Carlos still commented on “Blade Runner” , I was happier. The whole environment was familiar to me, but I couldn't remember why. In fact, “Blade Runner” is one of my favorite movies, and the place reminded me of when Deckard [Harrison Ford] is introduced to the audience, eating Chinese food in a very neon and rainy environment. - “It could rain now. ..” - I pondered.
- Ele me indagou.
We talked about many things, and Carlos used all his knowledge gained from many hours and moments of Kung Fu- Life to order the proper food in the proper order. Meanwhile, we drank more and more Chinese liquor. At one point, the waitress came with the almost empty bottle inside showing the alcohol content - "Guys, this is what you're drinking!" - We asked for one last round, despite her concern [laughs]. Other customers asked Carlos what he was ordering, curious about his precision in his choices. Finally, we were told that the chef wanted to meet us. Carlos accompanied me to a point where I asked for the UBER, and as we walked he was very focused on finding out why the chef wanted to meet us. - “What do you think he saw in us?” - He asked me. Well, that we'll never know. It could have been the choices on the menu... It could have been the colossal amount of alcohol we ingested or it could have been the ability to choose properly despite the alcohol... Laughter. But these are just fragments of memory, of a night in the middle of Rio de Janeiro.
